Peru Rod and Gun Club archery event Sunday

PERU — The Peru Rod and Gun Club will be hosting a 3-D archery shoot on Sunday. Registration will be from 8 a.m. until noon and awards will be presented at 3 p.m.

The rifle range will be closed from Saturday at noon until Monday.

 

Lucky Strike Lanes schedule league meetings

MALONE — Lucky Strike Lanes has scheduled meetings for its upcoming bowling leagues. All league members, officers and current bowlers are asked to attend the meetings.

Youth league sign-ups will be held on Aug. 25 and 26 and Sept. 1 and 2 from noon until 3 p.m. Registration is $17 per child and includes a new jersey. New this year is a Bumper League for ages 7 and under.

SAANYS golf tourney Sept. 16

MALONE — The School Administrators Association of New York State (SAANYS) will hold its annual golf tournament at the Malone Golf club on Sunday, Sept. 16. North Bowl to hold junior sign-ups

PLATTSBURGH — The North Bowl Junior Bowling Program will hold its league sign-ups from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on August 28 and 29 at North Bowl Lanes. Youth bowlers have earned a total of $17,535 the past four years in the Junior-Major-Senior League.

 

Polaris Ladies League to meet Aug. 27

PLATTSBURGH — The Polaris Ladies Bowling League will hold a meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 27 at North Bowl Lanes. The league starts on Sept. 10. For more information, call Morna at 643-8283 or North Bowl Lanes at 561-1690.

 

Peru Ladies League to meet at North Bowl

PLATTSBURGH — The Peru Ladies Bowling League will have an organizational meeting at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 30 at North Bowl Lanes. Bowlers are always welcome. Call Janice at 566-7699 or Gail at 293-8415 for more information.

 

YMCA soccer registration open until Sept. 11

PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh YMCA is offering a soccer league for boys and girls ages 3 1/2 to 7. The program is divided into two divisions: Kickers (ages 3 1/2 to 5) and Dribblers (ages 6 and 7). This instructional league is designed to be a fun, family activity, while learning how to play soccer. Register at the YMCA or at www.plattsburghymca.com from now until Sept. 11.

The program will begin Sept. 15. Children from all area communities are welcome to participate. The practice/games will run for 60 to 90 minutes on Saturday mornings only at the Bailey Ave. fields. All children will receive a t-shirt uniform and trophy. Volunteer coaches are needed. For more information, call the YMCA at 561-4290.

 

Chazy Central School to host soccer tournaments

CHAZY — Chazy Central School has announced the schedule for its Frankie Garrow Memorial Boys Soccer Tournament and Mary Latremore “Be the Match” Fall Girls Soccer Classic.

The Garrow Memorial schedule includes: Thursday, August 30, Plattsburgh High vs. Beekmantown, 6 p.m.; Friday, August 31, Chazy vs. Canton, 11 a.m.; and Saturday, September 1, consolation at 5 p.m. and championship at 7 p.m.

The Latremore Classic schedule includes: Friday, August 31, Amsterdam vs. Peru at 5 p.m. and Chazy vs. Plattsburgh High at 7 p.m.; and Saturday, September 1, consolation at 11 a.m. and championship at 1 p.m.

 

Donut Dash, Munchkin Fun Run Sept. 1

PLATTSBURGH — The Donut Dash 5K and Munchkin Half-Mile Fun Run will be held Saturday, Sept. 1, beginning at the City Recreation Center.

Registration for the Donut Dash is $20, and participants will run three laps around the US Oval and encounter Dunkin Donut Aid Stations at each mile. While runners are not required to eat donuts during the race, only runners who eat one donut per mile will be eligible for awards.

The Munchkin Fun Run is open to kids age 12 and under, and the cost is $10. Participants will run a half mile around the U.S. Oval and receive free Dunkin Donuts munchkins at the finish.

Proceeds will benefit Team Fox for Parkinson’s Research and Girls on the Run. Participants who pre-register by 10 a.m. on Aug. 29 will receive a free t-shirt. Registration is available at www.bitly.com/donutdash5k. Race-day entry is welcome.

Tupper Lake to host 5K/10K run/walk

TUPPER LAKE — The Northwoods Challenge 5K/10K run/walk will be held at 10 a.m. on September 9. Registration begins at the Train Station at 8:30 a.m., the kids’ race starts at 9:30 a.m. and the Northwoods Challenge at 10 a.m.
