PLATTSBURGH — Jacob Daniels got a piece of Northern Adirondack's 3-point attempt to tie with seconds left to preserve Lake Placid's 49-46 Section VII Class C boys' basketball quarterfinal win Tuesday.
Logan Stephenson scored a game-high 21 points for the fifth-seeded Blue Bombers, who will advance to play Ticonderoga, the No. 1 seed, in the semifinals Saturday.
"This is Lake Placid's first playoff win in more than a decade," Lake Placid coach Brenden Gotham said.
Daniels added 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Blue Bombers, who avenged a 22-point nonconference loss to the Bobcats earlier in the season.
One of the keys to victory for Lake Placid was bottling up Colby Sayah, Northern Adirondack's leading scorer, who had the most 3-pointers in Section VII.
Sayah was limited to just two points in the first half. He finished with 10 points, including a 3-pointer to pull the Bobcats within three late in the fourth quarter.
Lake Placid (9-8) held a 27-21 lead at the half.
"We shut Sayah down in the first half and everybody stepped up," Gotham said. "We shot really well in the first half. I don't know our exact percentage, but we were on. Everything was falling."
Daniel Burger had a strong game for Northern Adirondack (1-17), tallying a team-high 16 points and seven rebounds. Corey LaBounty chipped in with 14 points.
The Class C semifinals will be held Saturday at Willsboro Central School. Seton Catholic will play Moriah at 6 p.m. with Lake Placid and Ticonderoga to follow at 7:30 p.m.
