CANTON — Hannah Saiz, a Kenyon College junior and Plattsburgh High graduate, won both the 100 and 200-yard butterfly events at the North Coast Athletic Conference Swimming Championship held in Canton, Ohio.
She is the first Kenyon swimmer in 20 years to sweep the NCAC butterfly events.
On Saturday, Saiz, also an alumnus of the Lake Champlain Waves Swim Club, swam the preliminary heat of the 200 fly in 2:01.80, tying the NCAC record that she set in 2011.
She won the final that evening with a time of 2:02.45. The previous day Saiz won the 100fly in a season's best 55.80. Both swims qualify her for the NCAA Division III Championship held this March in Indianapolis. Saiz also swam the butterfly leg on the first place 400 yard medley relay team.
Kenyon College women's team, which took second place in the North Coast Athletic Conference, have been Division III national champs for 23 of the last 28 years.
