Palumbo, Durney win Burlington fights
BURLINGTON, Vt. — Frank Palumbo and Tim Durney, representing Plattsburgh Combat Sports, won their respective amateur fights Saturday in The Burlington Brawl MMA Fight Night IX at the Burlington Memorial Auditorium.
Durney, competing at 165 pounds for his first amateur Mixed Martial Arts fight, won by TKO in the first round, scoring with punches, kicks and a takedown.
Palumbo dropped down to 145 pounds for his third MMA fight. He won his bout in the third round by rear-naked-choke submission, forcing his opponent to tap out. With this win he also captured the title of submission of the night.
Keeseville youth soccer sign-up set
KEESEVILLE — The Keeseville Youth Commission will holding soccer registration this week. Those interested can sign up at the AuSable Town Office July 31, from 10-11:30 a.m.
All boys and girls born after Nov. 1, 2004, and before Oct. 31, 2008, are eligible.

Molly Rascoe coed softball tourney set
WESTPORT — A coed slo-pitch softball tournament to benefit Molly Rascoe will be held Saturday, Aug. 7 at Westport Central School. Rain date in Aug. 8.
Entry fee is $150 per team of 10 players. Registration will be at 9 a.m. with games beginning at 10 a.m.
All proceeds will go toward helping with Molly's medical expenses.

Adventure Program deadline Wednesday
PLATTSBURGH — The Clinton County Youth Bureau and Town of Plattsburgh Recreation Department will co-host an Outdoor Summer Adventure Program Aug. 9 — 13.
The free three-day program will introduce two groups of 10 youths, 14 years of age and older, to such skills as hiking, flat-water kayaking, map reading, environmental and historical issues, team work and outdoor leadership skills. Previous hiking and/or paddling skills are not required.
All equipment will be provided. Being able to swim is required. pre-registration is required by July 28.

City plans Youth Soccer Player Day
PLATTSBURGH — The City of Plattsburgh Recreation Department is holding a player participation day for everyone enrolled in the City Spring Youth Soccer League on the Oval. Parents are asked to bring thier child to the regular playing field on the oval where there will be games and medals handed out. It will take place at 5:15 p.m.
Essex sheriffs to hold softball tourney
LEWIS — The Essex County Sheriff's Department will hold a slow-pitch softball tournament Aug. 21-22 at the Mount Fay Rod and Gun Club in Lewis on Stowersville Road.

B'town youth soccer camp Aug. 2-6
BEEKMANTOWN — The Beekmantown Youth Commission is offering a soccer camp for children entering grades 1-12. The camp will be Aug. 2-6 at the Beekmantown Town Hall fields, from 9-11:30 a.m.
The cost is $10 for Beekmantown residents and $36 for non-residents, which includes a soccer ball.
Parents may register their child at the Beekmantown Town Hall or the first morning of camp from 8:15-8:45 a.m. Information and registration forms are also available at www.townofbeekmantown.com.
City accepting teams for wooden bat league
PLATTSBURGH — The City of Plattsburgh Recreation Department is accepting online registration for its Over 30 Wooden Bat League. The league will begin play Aug. 9 and run for six weeks.
Games will be held at Lefty Wilson Field (Penfield Park) and South Acres baseball fields, starting at 5:30 p.m. Participants must be 30 years of age and older. Games will be 9 innings in length with only wooden bats used.
