Don’t assail or impugn an identifiable individual or group. If you have that kind of criticism, sign your name and submit it as a Letter to the Editor. (There is some leeway on this in connection with public officials, but it is not unconditional.)

Don’t use profanity. This includes the term “tea bagger.”

Don’t be incendiary or tasteless. Those qualities are subjective, of course, and our editors will be the arbiters.

Do not identify yourself in the main content area of the article content form. Only by enforcing this rule can the moderators prevent unscrupulous commenters from falsely identifying themselves as someone they are not.

Don't type in all caps. It is considered the Internet equivalent of shouting.

In sports articles, do not criticize officiating.

Remember, moderators are not allowed to edit any article comments. If an article comment fails any of the above criteria, the entire comment will be deleted.

Mama's breaks into win column

You can look back over the last 70 years at some of the area athletes and personalities who made headlines in area sports. Flashback will revive memories of great local athletes and outstanding team successes.

MALONE — Mama's Milkers defeated International Border 83-77 last week to register its first victory in the Malone Adult Basketball League.

Jean Laurent, Mario Chabau, Eric Hall, Corey J. Russell, Kris Chase and Mike McCray all reached double figures for Mama's, which overcame a 30-point effort by Kelsey Moody.

Andy Cook sank the go-ahead basket in overtime as HelmHaven Farms edged Trim's Lawn Care 87-86. The winners were 19 for 26 from the field in the first half. Jamie Moore tallied 33 points in a losing effort.

Aaron Poupore drained the game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer, lifting PAPAS Dairy to a 49-46 win over Fleming's. Andy Cymbrak scored 25 points and pulled down 17 rebounds for the Dairymen.
