BUFFALO — The line of Megan DiJulio, Steph Moon and Laurie Bowler continued its scorching play Friday and Plattsburgh State shook off a slow start to skate past Buffalo State 10-0.

Moon netted two goals and assisted on two more, giving her six points in her last two games.

DiJulio had a power-play goal, an even-strength marker and an assist to stretch her point streak to five games. She has six goals in the last four contests. Bowler earned a helper.

"They're tough to handle," Plattsburgh State coach Kevin Houle said.

Mandy Mackrell earned the shutout with 15 saves.

The Cardinals (14-1-1, 11-0-1 ECAC West) meet the Bengals (8-9-1, 5-6-1) again this afternoon.

Moon scored just 1:10 into the game and Helen Giroux made it 2-0 at 8:03, but Houle wasn't happy with the Cardinals' play in the first period. The Bengals outshot them 11-10.

"We didn't play very well in the first, but we were able to get a couple goals," Houle said. "Then we played a lot better as the game went on.

"The first period we were just kind of slow, didn't play well. We weren't making good passes. They were getting shots — no real quality shots other than on the power play, but they had chances."

DiJulio and Moon tallied in the first half of the second, and then the Cardinals scored four times in the last 6:52. Houle said they played with more intensity in the period.

"That's what we talked about at intermission," Houle said. "It wasn't anything with X's and O's. We just needed to get our feet going, and we started doing that better in the second."

The Cardinals held a 21-1 shot advantage in the second.

Sophomore defenseman Britt McKegg notched her first career goal with 24 seconds left in the second and added an assist. The Plattsburgh State blueliners combined for 10 points, including Erika Shaubel's three assists and two each from Kristen Bond and Kristin Maton.

Stephanie Moberg, Teal Gove and Jordan Caldwell all had a goal and an assist, and Kayla McDougall also scored.
