Don’t assail or impugn an identifiable individual or group. If you have that kind of criticism, sign your name and submit it as a Letter to the Editor. (There is some leeway on this in connection with public officials, but it is not unconditional.)

Don’t use profanity. This includes the term “tea bagger.”

Don’t be incendiary or tasteless. Those qualities are subjective, of course, and our editors will be the arbiters.

Do not identify yourself in the main content area of the article content form. Only by enforcing this rule can the moderators prevent unscrupulous commenters from falsely identifying themselves as someone they are not.

Don't type in all caps. It is considered the Internet equivalent of shouting.

In sports articles, do not criticize officiating.

Remember, moderators are not allowed to edit any article comments. If an article comment fails any of the above criteria, the entire comment will be deleted.

Huskies take first for boys, second for girls

CANTON — Franklin Academy had a nice day overall in Friday's Northern Athletic Conference indoor track and field event held at St. Lawrence University.

The boys came away with a first place victory with 158.5 points on the day while the girls came in a close second to Canton (129) with 119 points.

The Huskies had five first-place finishes during the girls' events.

Brandy Allen, Liz Kielly, Justina Cositore and Rebekkah Bond captured a first place win in the 3,200 relay with a time of 10:50.5. Kyle Disotelle won the 55 hurdles in 9.3, Emily Hutchins was first in the 600 in 1:50.4 and Bond crossed first in the 1,00 in 3:18.9.

The relay team of Hutchins, Kielly, Bond and Carrie Pomainville took a first place win in the 1,600 relay.

The boys were also able to capture five events for Malone.

Corey Lamere, Rourk Marlow, Doug Fitzgerald and Morgan Marlow ran an 8:26.5 in the 3,200 relay. Morgan Marlow won the 1,600 in 4:38 and the 3,200 in 10:15.2. John Picaro was first in the 300 in 37.7 and Mike Sharrow captured the shot put with a toss of 44 feet, 3.5 inches.
