South Jefferson ends Little League All-Stars' run

LOWVILLE — The Plattsburgh Little League All-Stars met their match Saturday.

The pitching of Gagan Samra and four extra-base hits by his teammates South Jefferson to a 6-1 victory in the District 37 championship game.

The 6 feet, 1 inch Samra ended up going 5.1 innings for the victory.

Mitch Senecal’s RBI single in the top of the first inning gave Plattsburgh a 1-0 lead, but that would be all the local team would get the rest of the way.

Plattsburgh starter Kaleb Hoistion made the lead stand up until the third when South Jefferson pushed across two runs. South Jefferson then added four more in the fifth to break the game open.

Plattsburgh manager Mike Bordeau’s plan to save pitcher Manny Brinson for the later innings fell through when Brinson was forced to leave the game with an ankle injury suffered while running to first base in the third inning.

“Hoistion pitched well against a very tough lineup,” said Bordeau. “Having Manny or any other pitcher available would not have made a difference unless we could have got to Samra.”

Tyler Hildreth went 3-for-3, including a double, for South Jefferson. Spencer Gray added two hits, while Owen Collins contributed a 2-run homer in the fifth inning, Cadin Berie a triple in the fifth and Samra a double in the fifth. South Jefferson finished with eight hits in all.

Jacob LaBounty rapped out two hits for Plattsburgh, while Colin Wells and Senecal had the only other hits.
