P-R fall preseason coaching forms available

PLATTSBURGH — The Press-Republican once again is compiling information for preseason reports on high-school sports and asks that varsity coaches send an e-mail to sports@pressrepublican.com to receive a preseason form if one hasn't already been received.

We will copy the form on your e-mail and forward it to you to be filled out.

We ask that you complete the forms as soon as possible and return them to the Press-Republican. We prefer forms for fall sports by Sept. 1 for previews.

PSU men's soccer red & white game tonight

CHAZY — The Plattsburgh State men's soccer red and white game will take place 7 p.m. tonight at Chazy High School.

The intrasquad game is free and open to the public.

NAC seeking fitness room monitor

ELLENBURG — Northern Adirondack is seeking a qualified individual to run the school fitness room in the evening hours between 5-9 p.m. Monday-Friday.

City taking registrations for youth soccer

PLATTSBURGH — The City of Plattsburgh Recreation Department is now taking online registrations for the following coed youth soccer divisions: U-6, U-8, U-10, U-12. Fee for City Residents is $44 and $49 non-city residents. Coaches are needed and will have their children's fee waived.

PSU to offer Lifeguard Training Course

PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh State Department of Sport and Wellness is offering a non-credit Lifeguard Training Course on Sundays from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sept. 19-Nov. 14 except Oct. 10.

Students must pass pre-swim test that is given during the first class. Course cost is $175 and includes all class materials and Red Cross Fees.

Moonlight Invitational to be held Sept. 18

PLATTSBURGH — Mickey's Restaurant will hold the Second Annual Mickey's Moonlight Invitational Sept. 18 at Bluff Point Golf Resort with proceeds to benefit the Adirondack Humane Society.

The format is a 4-man scramble beginning at 3:30 p.m. Nine holes will be played during daylight, and nine will be played with a glow-in-the-dark ball.

Any team that participated last year has until Sept. 1 to register without losing their reserved spot. Any remaining spots will be available for open registration after that date.

Lions Club tourney slated for Sept. 12

PLATTSBURGH — The Peru Lions Club will be hosting its 16th Annual Stanley Hughes Golf Classic Sunday, Sept. 12 at the Barracks Golf and Country Club at noon.

The tournament is a 4-person scramble with a team handicap of 40-plus. Cash prizes are awarded for first, second and third places. There will also be prizes for closest to the pin and longest drive. A buffet dinner will follow the round. Cost is $65 per non-Barracks member and $35 for members.

Duprey qualifies for Ironman 70.3 World Championship Race

GILFORD, N.H. — Mary Duprey of Rouses Point earned a qualifying spot in 2010 Ironman 70.3 World Championship race that will be held Clearwater, Fla in November.

Duprey placed first in her age group at the Timberman Ironman 70.3 race in Gilford, N.H. on Aug. 22. Duprey completed the event in 5:26:27 in the 50-54 age group. The 70.3 event consists of a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike and 13.1 mile swim. The top five finishers in each age group were presented awards.

Keeseville softball tournament changed to Sept. 18-19

KEESEVILLE — The Keeseville Medium Pitch Softball League has changed its double elimination slow pitch softball tournament to Sept. 18 and 19 at the Keeseville VFW. Entry fee will be $150.
