Race the Base benefit March 17
PLATTSBURGH — The North country Mission of Hope, in conjunction with the Plattsburgh Sunrise Rotary and City of Plattsburgh Recreation Department, will host Race the Base, Run for Hope March 17 at the City Recreation Center beginning at 9 a.m.
Runners will be grouped into heats of six to eight runners of similar ability for the one-mile time trial event. Each heat will feature an 11-lap race.
The event is to help raise awareness for the North country Mission of Hope.
All walkers and runners are welcome. Registration is $15 before March 3 and $20 after. To register, visit www.plattsburghrecreation.com.
There will also be raffles, food vendors and display booths from local businesses and sponsors.

Registration ongoing for floor hockey
PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh YMCA will accept registrations for its youth floor hockey league until Feb. 29.
The program is for boys and girls in Kindergarten through fourth grade.
Practices and games are held at the YMCA each Saturday morning for eight weeks. The program is designed to emphasize fun, safety and fundamental skills.
Each child will receive a t-shirt and trophy. There will be an end-of-the-season swim and pizza party as well.
A mouth guard is required for all participants.
Registration forms can be picked up at the YMCA at 17 Oak Street in Plattsburgh or downloaded at www.plattsburghymca.com.

Rising Starts tourney to be held in March
CHAMPLAIN — The Northeastern Clinton Booster Club will host its 2nd-Annual rising Starts Girls' Basketball Tournament March 3.
The tournament, for fifth and sixth grade girls' teams, has a limited number of spots available.
All registrations, forms and entrance fees must be submitted by Feb. 25 at the latest.

Zumba classes to run from March to April
PLATTSBURGH — The Clinton County Youth Bureau will hold free Zumba classes each Wednesday from March 1 until April 5 from 5 to 6 p.m.
The classes will be held at the Old Courthouse Building at 133 Margaret Street in Plattsburgh in the second floor meeting room.
Participants must be ages 14 to 21 and must register by 4 p.m. on the day of the class. Participants dress comfortably and wear proper athletic footwear.

ADK chapter to hold Chili Fest
SARANAC — The Algonquin Chapter of the ADK will be holding its 2nd-Annual Chili Fest at the New Land Trust at 236 Plumadore Road on Saturday, February 18. There will be free skiing and snow shoeing tours all day. Bring a dish to share. Chili will be served from noon on and there will be a bonfire at dark.
