Disapproves of liberals

TO THE EDITOR: What is the difference between liberals and conservatives? We on the right see the universe forwards and right side up and liberals see it backwards and upside down through the lens of power lust and reflected in the mirror of madness. For example, ethanol decreases the gas mileage of our cars, and the Democrat solution is to add more ethanol to the gasoline; that is backwards and insane, but it makes them feel powerful.

Liberal Democrats believe you can spend your way out poverty, borrow your way out of debt, win wars by losing, raise up the poor by destroying the rich and win elections by elevating lying above truth. When the Democrats, who vilified George Bush, double down on his deficit spending, ramp up his eavesdropping on Americans, admit they can't close Gitmo, eliminate the sunset provision in the Homeland Security Department and escalate the war in Afghanistan, then the universe has truly been turned upside down.

The first principals of conservatism are the rights to life, liberty and property, and liberals are dedicated to achieving liquidation on demand, the right to do as you are told and government ownership of all wealth. When they come for you or what was yours, never say you didn't know or you weren't told because you did and you were.

Forever grateful

TO THE EDITOR: We would like to thank and offer our deepest gratitude to the countless number of family, friends and community members who helped us with clean up, supplied us with equipment and supplies, and gave us words of encouragement following the flood in Ellenburg that affected our business and our home.

The outpouring of love and support through the numerous acts of kindness that we received had helped our family overcome many obstacles and quickly returned normalcy to our lives.

To our family, we are blessed to have you in our lives. We will never forget how you put your own lives on hold for days so we could get back on our feet again.

To the people in our community, we are blessed to live among such caring, giving people. You have shown us what is possible when people come together. We will be forever grateful to all those people who unselfishly gave a helping hand in our time of need.

God bless all of you!

Incident clarified

TO THE EDITOR: I am writing this letter so that people can hear my side of the story regarding a Speakout article that was printed on Aug. 20. It stated that my child was one of a few children that bullied their child. I just want to clarify a few things that were printed, as they did not explain the whole truth.

First, what went on between that child and my child was mutual, the other child was just as unkind as mine ... they were in 6th grade and weren't being very nice to each other, the emotional distress went both ways.

Second, I did speak with that other parent several times, this parent wanted our children to work it out, I felt that they didn't need to be friends if they didn't want to be. I cannot comment on the other children this parent was referring to, as they were not friends of my daughter at the time.

Third, my child did not ever physically harm their child and to infer such a thing is unbelievable.

Fourth, if their child was so distraught, why didn't this parent set up a meeting or address it with me again, as I said before, I did speak with that parent a few times.

Finally, I am astonished at how a person could take a Middle School disagreement between two young girls and turn it into something else ... as I said, I do not know how the other children involved were treating this child ... maybe they were bullying her, that is not for me to say. If they were, that was not right and I feel sorry for that child, if that was the case.

Maybe now the individual will think back to over 18 months ago and recall how the story really happened, it was not ignored as stated in Speakout, at least not by me!

Cover has been blown

Two Micks from Chicago,

Whose cover has finally been blown.

Makes one long for the days,

And the old fashioned ways,

Of progressives like Alphonse Capone.
