Golf tournament
TO THE EDITOR: On Saturday, July 21, American Legion Post 1619 and Michelob Ultra held the eighth-annual Crab Island Memorial Golf Tournament at the Barracks Golf Course.
We are so fortunate to have a full field of 144 golfers every year. One thing we have neglected to do, in the past, is to inform everyone what the tournament is all about.
This tournament benefits a full scholarship to Clinton Community College. The info below is also in the brochure that Steve Frederick at CCC so kindly prints up for us every year for the tourney:
“The Crab Island Memorial Scholarship was designed by the Fountain Bros. American Legion Post 1619 to help a non-traditional or adult student at CCC who may otherwise be unable to pursue their education. The scholarship covers the entire cost of tuition and books for an entire year. The student is eligible to receive funding for the second year as long as they maintain a 2.5 GPA.”
We also want to thank our sponsors and volunteers; without them, we would not be able to fund this scholarship every year.
Thank you to American Legion Post 1619, Plattsburgh Distributing, Dave Vivian, S.A.L.
