Hannah’s Hope
TO THE EDITOR: The Mike Mannnix/Hannah’s Hope Golf Tournament was a great success.
It was a wonderful day of fun and also helped to sustain a worthy cause. The generous donations of sponsors supported and boosted the Hannah’s Hope Fund. The charity of local retail stores, restaurant owners and many golf-course managers provided us with prizes, food and drink.
There were others who sent money to the cause and some who helped in their own way, and all are appreciated. The enjoyment of the day is the result of the cooperation of many.
The owners and employees of ADK Golf Club presented a particularly well-conditioned course. The energy of volunteers kept the day running smoothly. The experience of the Planning Committee brought together an organized and unique tournament.
Lastly, special thanks to all the golfers who participated with a spirit and charitable unselfishness that made the day the success. We are grateful to all involved and once again, sincerely thank you — for the Sames/Burnell family, especially Hannah.

Committed couple
TO THE EDITOR: I would like to personally thank Jack and Gail Wilson for all of their time, encouragement, enthusiasm and dedication at all the local fun runs, races, etc.
It is always so nice to see their familiar faces at all the local events. Our family has been participating in many of these events over the past few years, and they continue to amaze us with their continued commitment. They have spent many hours volunteering their time to help out, and for this, our family (and many others) are very appreciative.
Without people like the Wilsons, our community would not be able to have these many running events for kids. It is an excellent, fun way to foster and promote health and fitness to our youngsters, and for this we appreciate and admire your commitment.
We can’t thank you enough.

Gasoline prices
TO THE EDITOR: In my job, I service the Massena,Potsdam, Canton and Malone area.
Recently, a new Nice N Easy opened in Canton. Gas prices as of July 5 were as follows: Malone, $368.9 to $3.69.9; Fort Covington, $343.9; the reservation, $3.45.9; Massena, $363.9; Potsdam, $3.49 to $3.51.9; Canton Nice N Easy, $3.32.9; Mt. Mart $3.35.9; everywhere else in Canton, $3.35.9; and Mt. Mart in Moira, $3.67.9.
It is amazing what competition instead of collusion can do to gas prices.I encourage everyone to send e-mails to Nice N Easy asking them to consider building a store in Malone to encourage competition in an area where we are being ripped off on gas prices.
I think 37-cents-a-gallon difference within a 40-mile radius tells a story.
