Cheers & Jeers

Cheers and Jeers: Oct. 15, 2012

CHEERS to the Malone Chamber of Commerce for seeking national recognition for its Victorian-era homes in the Prettiest Painted Places in America contest sponsored by the Paint Quality Institute. Even though Malone was not named a finalist for the Northeast region of the competition, the attempt to introduce the community to a wider audience of potential tourists and visitors using one of its most historic assets was an excellent one. Drawing more people to every corner of the North Country to see, taste and enjoy the unique assets we offer is a common challenge for communities. So reaching out to a national audience for assets like our fishing tournaments, Olympic venues, Battle of Plattsburgh events and world-class golfing is a smart approach. The Prettiest Places contest was designed to recognize communities that care about their appearance through exterior-paint treatments that enhance curb appeal and increase their overall beauty. It’s called community pride, and the Chamber of Commerce showed Malone has that in spades.
