Mayor praised
TO THE EDITOR: It is with great appreciation, Mayor Don Kasprzak, that I write this letter.
Your 2011 State of the City address in The Burg on Jan. 28 has prompted me to let you know just how fortunate we, the taxpayers, are to have you watching out for our best interests. I could not help but notice in that article, you never used the words "I" or "me" while referring to the many accomplishments of 2011. You should be lauded for your humbleness. That is a rare and unique character trait.
Thank you, Don, for keeping the city's costs down — it has not been an easy task. Although it may seem you are battling by yourself, you are not alone. I am in the grandstand cheering you on.

Firefighter support
TO THE EDITOR: The Clinton County Firefighters Association will be holding its annual banquet on March 17 with a social hour 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., with dinner to follow, at the Rainbow Banquet Hall in Altona.
This banquet is open to members of the association and past/exempt firefighters from throughout the association coverage area.
We are encouraging those past/exempt firefighters to work with their fire department to purchase tickets to this annual event.
Any assistance they can provide would be greatly appreciated.
