Kurtz retirement
TO THE EDITOR: Adore Kurtz's retirement as president of The Development Corp. will be a great loss for the North Country and New York State.
Her intention to remain active with the North Country Regional Economic Development Council, however, means that her professionalism will continue to help guide the Council in its activities to catapult the North Country's economy.
Clinton County's economy is stronger because of Adore's leadership. For example, Adore led the economic-development efforts to create and expand TDC's three business parks, which are home to more than 35 domestic and international businesses, including, Schonbek, World Warehouse, SpencerARL, Nova Bus, Global Sugar Art, UPS, APG Neuros, Schluter Systems and Fujitsu and many more.
Thanks to Adore's leadership, TDC owns and manages 15 industrial buildings within the parks, as well as numerous "build-to-suit" parcels.
Her leadership also guided the establishment of the Noble Environmental Wind Farm, the first large-scale wind project in Clinton County, and the recently approved Horizon Marble River Project.
Always exhibiting grace and class, Adore often stood in the background while others took credit for the work she accomplished with her TDC team.
Of course, those who have benefitted most by Adore's success are the employees who work for the businesses she helped expand or attract to Clinton County.
As the current chairwoman of the New York State Economic Development Council, Adore is highly respected and admired by her peers and has led NYSEDC in developing new professional development programming and expanded services to our members. NYSEDC is a better organization because of Adore's leadership.
Whoever succeeds Adore will have big shoes to fill. However, the task will be made easier because of the solid foundation she and her team have established.
