Program
I have to say that the Healthy Neighborhoods program is one of the best I have ever come across in the North Country. What a wonderful thing you are doing for families who cannot afford all the baby-proofing needs. Thank you so much.
Alertness
I see that at least one person is defending the illegal use of cellphones while driving by calling those who notice their illegal and dangerous activity "rubberneckers." Good driving requires alertness, part of which is observing all circumstances that can affect safety. Seeing other drivers doing very dangerous things usually comes first, then we see the reason for the bad driving. "That car is coming head-on in my lane!" is followed by: "Oh, he's texting." If I close my eyes to bad drivers, then I am similar to you: blind to the problem.
Motorcycles
I was wondering why the New York State Troopers don't use motorcycles? Most states have a motorcycle unit that work their highways. Granted, the North Country would limit the use of motorcycles from late April through September? However, fuel savings would add up very fast. The Ford Crown Vics and Chevy Tahoe SUVs are not very fuel efficient, to say the least. Even if they added just a few motor units to each NYSP Barracks, we would see a huge savings over a few years.
