Searching for sister
TO THE EDITOR: I am searching for my sister, who was adopted at birth on Dec. 7, 1960.
She was born in Champlain Valley Hospital. I have been searching for her for the last 15 years.
It is very important that I find her for many reasons, but perhaps most important is that she should know about a serious genetic disorder that has claimed the life of six of our relatives.
She was adopted through Catholic Charities and the Ogdensburg Diocese. I do not know whether she is still in the area, but I am hoping that someone will remember something.
My mother's name was Dorothea Rock. Her doctor was Dr. Delbell — he also delivered me two years earlier. There are no hospital records available, as they were destroyed many years ago.
If you have any information, please contact me through my email address, mlwait@yahoo.com, or call me on my cellphone, at 518-281-9446.
Any information would be welcome and appreciated. Thank you.

Simple changes
TO THE EDITOR: Some "follow the herd" much too easily, so when the call for "cuts" goes out it is seen as a must.
Yet, the same folks are outraged when their loved one losses a job.
Consider this: For the price of giving up the daily "scratchoff" or "quick pick" or "designer coffee" or "six-pack," you could save many jobs (school or public budget cuts). Yet, the problem is seldom framed in such simple terms.
Sure, prudence in budgeting is needed, but let's get real and used a balanced approach. God has some advice for us on this topic, "Don't become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you." — Romans 12:2 The Message
