Speakout entries that are more than 100 words long will be rejected. Also, don't type all in capital letters and don't insult a specific person or use hateful language because those will be rejected also.
Please take a minute to proofread and spellcheck your entry before you send it. Look for spelling errors, grammar mistakes and words that should be capitalized but aren't.
It takes time to correct the many errors that arrive in Speakout entries, so it's a big help if you check them over first.
Hoffman
Defeated candidate Hoffman stated, ACORN, the unions and Democratic Party were scared, and that's why they tampered with the ballots of voters in NY-23. He should have to give specific cases of this illegal activity or apologize to those who worked for and/or voted for Mr. Owens. The election was not stolen, Hoffman. You lost. Admit it; you lost.
Intersection
How many people have to be killed on the corner of Banker Road and Route 3 before there is a full stop light, from both directions. Coming from Morrisonville, it is very difficult to see from the right, and in the winter, with snow banks, you have to be in the road. Yellow light used to mean slow down. Now I guess it means floor it. Scary corner if you are of an elder age.
Law
To the person who asked if the law applies to everyone, well of course it does. As long as you have the political connections and the right last name.
Ignorant
I must say that the Speakout entitled "Alcohol" was the most ignorant entry I have ever read. My parents were both heterosexual, and I "became" gay. Now how do you supposed that happened? Folks, before you write about something you are completely uninformed about, do some homework please.
Payoff?
So Dede cries because the RNC dumped millions to Hoffman, after she dropped out. What about Scozzafava endorsing Owens, campaign signs that popped up all over the very next day after your announcement? If Kinko's can't deliver that fast, then it must have been planned. Conservatives know Dede was a 21st-century Ross Perot. But we're more concerned about how fast Democrats were to swear in Mr. Owens for the health-care vote that most Americans have said they don't want. I wonder what position Ms. Scozzafava was promised to sell her soul for Obama's socialist/SEIU-funded dream.
Atheists
Why is it that atheists are the most hated minority in America? Sure, they probably don't agree with your world view, but that doesn't make them bad people. It seems this paper is consistently bashing atheism despite its growing numbers in the world. Let's face it: there are both good and bad people from all religions, whether they include a god or not. People don't need a god to have morals and common decency.
Confidentiality
I know of a nurse who works at a pediatrician's office and told private information about a patient's insurance. I think this is an awful thing to do. Don't you sign a confidentiality form and that person just might end up getting into trouble if they get turned in? You cannot even bring your kids to their pediatrician and feel safe and like your private information is private. What a sin, just because that certain patient receives insurance that the nurse cannot because of lying and trying to play the system and got caught.
Food stamps
To the food stamp Speakout on Nov. 17th: there are some people who cannot get food stamps because they defrauded the system and then they have to pay back to the government. However, in the case of the business owner who might receive help, Social Services does have a separate form that they follow with businesses. So there, you should mind your own business and keep confidentiality, especially if you might work in the medical field and release medical information.
Spitting
I totally agree with the individual who wrote about the spitting incident. I personally am not capable of such behavior. Perhaps if my life were being threatened, and it was a last resort to defend myself, I would do it. But to walk up to someone I was arguing with, clear my throat, and expel mucus and saliva on their face is unforgivable. It is something an animal would do. It's embarrassing to have someone like that in city government.
Baiting
Baiting deer, the people that do need to get off their butts and hunt the way it was meant to be. The people that do it are not the only ones at fault. The ones that have huge stacks of carrots in the yards for sale are at fault. Why are these people allowed to sell in the first place? We all know what the carrots are being used for. If you want to shoot a helpless deer that is trying to feed, take a walk on the wild side, and do it right.
