SPEAKOUT RULES

Speakout entries that are more than 100 words long will be rejected. Also, don't type all in capital letters and don't insult a specific person or use hateful language because those will be rejected also.

Please take a minute to proofread and spellcheck your entry before you send it. Look for spelling errors, grammar mistakes and words that should be capitalized but aren't.

It takes time to correct the many errors that arrive in Speakout entries, so it's a big help if you check them over first.

Link?
Well, to try and connect the link between the problems in Cumberland Head and this new POTUS is a stretch. However, for the person who wrote the "come back" and was trying to link the problems faced by the United States to the last administration, well, seems like a theme the new POTUS sure sings. I guess the writer of "Link" is a true believer in change and hope. Blame everything on Bush 43. Forget the POTUS was a U.S. senator with a couple of days on the job and the rest, campaigning for a different job ... great leader ... end the blame.

Responsibilities
Athletic directors have many responsibilities that take them out of the office. In other words, they don't just sit at a desk waiting for the phone to ring.

Example
All law-enforcement agencies are supposed to be making an example for others to follow. If they are responding to a call and have to break the speed limit to get there then they should have their emergency lights on. Why does the state allow these unmarked vehicles with blacked out windows? They're illegal for everyone else. Doing 90-plus mph to get back to the Champlain BP station from Plattsburgh is not needed. What's it going to take? An accident. Law enforcement are supposed to follow the rules of the road unless in an emergency. Period.

Parking
I am speaking out about the 30-minute parking limit at McDonald's on Cornelia Street. My husband and I are retired and live on fixed incomes. We look forward to our weekly visit to McDonald's on Sunday mornings after Mass to enjoy pancakes and coffee with our friends. The problem is that it takes time to get situated (I use a walker) before we can order our meals and sit down to eat. Secondly, we cannot eat as fast as some of these young kids (misfit dentures). My husband has a bad heart and worries our car will be towed.
