Speakout: Nov. 24, 2009

SPEAKOUT RULES

Speakout entries that are more than 100 words long will be rejected. Also, don't type all in capital letters and don't insult a specific person or use hateful language because those will be rejected also.

Please take a minute to proofread and spellcheck your entry before you send it. Look for spelling errors, grammar mistakes and words that should be capitalized but aren't.

It takes time to correct the many errors that arrive in Speakout entries, so it's a big help if you check them over first.

Cheating
The author of "Cheating" directs her comments to "all women who take on a married man as a friend," blaming them for hurting and disrupting families. First, it's possible for men and women to simply be friends without having an affair. But, that apparently isn't the case in your situation. If your husband is cheating on you, don't blame the other woman. Blame him for betraying your trust and marriage vows. By his actions he is responsible for the damage to your family, not her.

Aging
It started when I turned 75. I am now 76. My car insurance agent said my rates where going to increase (off the charts) despite the fact that I have not had an accident in over 25 years. People in my church posted a notice inviting women in their 40s, 50s and 60s to get together to enjoy an evening of fun. Okay, I'll stay in my rocking chair. The last straw is the news media saying swine-flu vaccinations are for people 65 and under. My doctor told me at my last physical I would probably live another 20 years. Help! Should I apologize for being alive after 65?

Streets
I am so sick and tired of driving on these side streets in the block of Palmer, Montcalm, Champlain, Lafayette streets. All of the roads in that area is something else. If ever an emergency vehicle needs to get through, they wouldn't make it in time. I am talking about the cars and trucks on both sides of the streets. There are driveways; why do they need to park on the side of the roads? If they find parking spots for the wintertime, why can't they find parking spots any other time.

Children
Why do people who shop at the local "big store-mart" not understand that children require a certain amount of sleep at night to be healthy and grow like they should? And why do they not understand that when it's cold out, they should be dressed in the appropriate attire? I am beyond sick of seeing young children out shopping at 10 at night with barely any (appropriate) clothes on. They should be fast asleep in their warm beds by then! They better not be disciplined for dosing at school the next day. They're probably exhausted!

Pfizer
Nice that all the politicians came out the day after the Pfizer closers were announced with all kinds of plans. Where were they when Pfizer was looking at sites to consolidate and close? That's when they should have been there pressing Pfizer to keep these sites open, like other states politicians were.
