Spitting
I am absolutely disgusted by the act committed by someone who represents the city government. Humans don't spit on other humans. Camels spit, cobras spit and have forked tongues. This person should no longer be allowed to be a representative of our city. For the first time in my life, I am embarrassed to be a city resident.
Free fall
How quickly, the Republicans are to point fingers at President Obama about the economy, unemployment and job losses. All of this was in free fall under their administration, and now all of this is President Obama's fault. And, oh yeah, I forgot, he's responsible for the wars in Afganistan and Iraq, too.
Gold Star
Thank you for the wonderful article on the Gold Star Mothers. I attended school with Mrs. Conley's son, Mike, and another Vietnam soldier who also lost his life, Bill Wray. They were both bright-eyed young men with great futures ahead of them. I can remember each of them on the basketball court at St. John's and in class. Many may have opposed the war in Vietnam, but no one can challenge the courage of the warriors who were sent there. Thank you to these young men and their families who sacrificed so much for us.
Smoking
Please don't smoke cigarettes around your child. You are worried about her asthma, and yet she comes to school every day reeking of smoke. Don't you realize the harm you are inflicting every time you expose your child to smoke? How many children have asthma because of smoke exposure? Please stop now.
Sewer
I noticed that our town supervisor looked deeply concerned about the job losses at Pfizer on TV. Well, I live on Cumberland Head and work for Pfizer; who is going to be concerned if the sewer project goes and I can't afford it because of a job loss. Will it be him? I am sure that I am not the only person in this boat, so please give us a break and leave us alone.
