Personal satisfaction
TO THE EDITOR: The Oct. 21 Viewpoint in the Press-Republican gave excellent information regarding CVPH's Cardiac Unit's 5-Star rating last year from Health Grades, a leading independent health-care-rating organization in this nation.
Having just been a cardiac patient for a heart catherization and placement of two stints, I would like to exclaim my personal satisfaction and appreciation for my experience at CVPH's cath lab and cardiac unit, and for the hospital staff that cared for me after my procedure. But I also want to recognize the dedication and talent of Dr. Palma of Lake Champlain Cardiology and Dr. Gauthier of Champlain Valley Cardiology, the two medical professionals who completed the procedures.
My trust in choosing CVPH for this procedure began, not with an ad on television, but as a patient of Dr. Palma and my care by his Lake Champlain Cardiology Staff. His recommendation of CVPH was right on target. Indeed, as your viewpoint article asked, why would anyone want to go to Burlington or Albany to receive this kind of care, when the best is available right here in the North Country at CVPH?

Success in Boston
TO THE EDITOR: It seems that everyone around here thinks the place to go is across the lake for medical care. Well, skip across the lake, over the hills, and across the green and go to the city of Boston to the top hospital.
I had the best MD and care after dealing with an injury for 2½ years from a car accident. After going in circles I am now healing. I am going to get better. Thanks, Boston Mass General Hospital for your competency.

Editorial: The real reason for the holiday
Today is for creating new memories. Tomorrow, we should pause to remember. Memorial Day weekend, being the first big holiday of the sun season, is all about barbecues, picnics and outdoor activities; it is all about family and friends. After a North Country winter, even a fairly mild one like we just had, we need to relax in the sun and enjoy the outdoors.

In My Opinion: A new focus for mental well-being
The opening of Behavorial Health Services North's Center for Well-Being at 2155 State Route 22B in Morrisonville on April 23 reflects the opening of a new chapter in the story of the treatment of mental illness now under way in our country, Behavorial Health Services North CEO Harry Cook writes.
