Managers

Mobile-home-park managers think that they are God when it comes to saying what you can have in your own home. My park manager will not allow us to have dogs in our own house. She gives you 10 days notice to get rid of the dog or you will be asked to leave the park. Mobile-home managers know that they can play God because a single-wide trailer can only go in trailer parks. Zoning laws will not let single-wide trailers in most towns. I think that single-wide owners are not being treated fair.

Bible

Please don't lecture me on the Bible. I have been a student of the Bible for the past 40 years. The parable of the Good Samaritan helped Jesus to illustrate the kindness that fellow humans should share with each other. We have many cases of good samaritans in our own community. However, our Lord Jesus has given many examples throughout the Bible on the way to being a Christian, exhorting to "sell what you have and give to the poor." The least you can do at this point is to make sure that the poor have proper health care.

H1N1

For nine years, I have served the North Country as a nurse. I am intelligent, respectful, compassionate, trustworthy and skillful. I have never been in any trouble at my employer. On Nov. 30, I will be fired. I will not allow NYSDOH to inject a substance into my body that I feel has not been tested appropriately. My children will not be injected either. For 33 years, I was led to believe that I had a choice; though today I have no choice but to leave an employer I love. Where is my right to refuse medications?

Sewer

Can the 7 to 10 Cumberland Head residents who need to repair or replace their systems explain why the other 690 should help them pay for repairs and at the tune of $38,000+ each? Do they ask the others to help them pay to redecorate or upgrade their windows or build their swimming pools? Worse yet, the USDA stimulus grant is money from all U.S. taxpayers, many not yet born. Get a grip and take responsibility for yourselves.

Vines

Thank you to the person(s) responsible for clearing the vines off the fence at the corner of Palmer Street and Golf Course Road in AuSable Forks. It is a very dangerous corner, and not having a clear view could cause an accident. Being able to see down Palmer Street is a tremendous improvement. Thank you.

  • In My Opinion: Behind the city lockbox program

AFSCME Local 788 has received the opinion and award of Arbitrator Kenneth J. Toomey denying the union's grievance of the city's Financial Lockbox, by which residents' water, sewer and trash payments can be routed to a Glens Falls National Bank subcontractor in Hicksville, Long Island, union President Denise Nephew writes.
