Chartock
So, Mr. Chartock wants to bring back Mr. Spitzer. No wonder his wife thinks that "monogamy is overrated." Overrated also describes the idea that Mr. Chartock has any thoughts worthy of our attention on the editorial page.

Article
Did anyone notice the nice article for the cross-country, boys soccer and football all-stars? Did anyone notice the lack of effort for the girls soccer? I am not sure who is at fault, the coaches or the press, but someone missed the boat.

The other all-stars were listed by position and school and well represented by equal-sized pictures. The girls didn't even have a representative for each position, just a mish mosh of apparently coaches' pet players and one large picture of one person. I always read the area school sport results, and this article was awful.

Compassion
I, too, used to take my children to Mass when they were small, trying to set a good example and raise them as Christians. The stress from dealing with judgmental "Christians" because they didn't sit still or weren't perfectly quiet for Mass became too much, and we stopped attending. None of my family attends Mass now. When a child is baptized, he/she is supposedly welcomed into that community. Perhaps some need a gentle reminder of what a Christian community is. Compassion and understanding never go out of style and are needed now more than ever.

Bush
Can't we have George Bush back? Okay, fine — he got us in two wars and the economy went bad, and he divided everybody, but big deal — he was proud to be an American, and that's what counts.

Referee
I was a spectator at a varsity volleyball game. The team that won did a great job. However, I would like to congratulate the losing team, as they showed great sportsmanship considering the terrible job done by the referee. It's not fair to make calls against one team all night long and only a few for the other. The match definitely would have gone to a fifth game but the ref seemed to have decided who was going to win early on in the match. So refs, are you listening? Be fair and impartial. The players deserve that much.

Line items
Saranac expansion — Wouldn't it be nice if we could have a line item for the things the district wants to add? I can understand the need for some things but not others, and not in these financial times. Heating system — yes. Lighting — no. Smart boards for computers — no. Etc. etc. etc. Also, if Albany halts state aid, who gets stuck with the bill? There's just too many questions and ifs for me to vote yes. By the way — I'm an employee.
