Speakout: March 18, 2010

Project
The administration and Board of Education are again asking the state of New York to fund a multi-million dollar (over $25 million!) building project! New York state has no money this year and has recently had to delay state aid already promised for student-educational programs. So, is this really the time to ask the state (and us!) to pay millions of dollars to make wish-list upgrades to the school buildings? No! Get out and vote on March 22nd.

Budget
In a recent Press-Republican article on the NACS budget preparation, School Board members said they are trying to keep spending costs down for next year. Then how do they justify cutting aid to student education and programs when they are asking the state to fund a huge million-dollar building project? There is no "free" money anywhere — of course there will be a "tax impact" — all state taxpayers will have to pay for this project. That's you and me! Let's ask the state to put money into education, not buildings! Vote "no" on March 18th!

Skit
To all those who were upset with the SNL skit "¦ get over it! So what if they poke fun of the Plattsburgh area? Take a real good look around "¦ Treadwells Mills, Altona, Keeseville, I could go on and on. It's just comedy and freedom of speech. Oh, and it's also true "¦ for the most part.

Project
Why do NAC Board members feel so desperate to get this over-priced project through that they need to threaten the local taxpayers? No one appreciates being strong-armed! We can and will think for ourselves!
