DELAYS
Haven't seen your Speakout? There are a few possible reasons.
We won't publish Speakouts that are longer than 100 words or that we consider libelous or inappropriate, including personal attacks, merchant complaints that we can't verify and court matters.
Also, once a topic seems to have run its course, we will cut it. Writers are always welcome to send a signed Letter to the Editor of no more than 300 words for publication on the Editorial page.
Lastly, Speakout is hugely popular, so we usually have many backed up, waiting to get in.
If you have any questions, call News Editor Lois Clermont at 565-4131.
Awards
Congrats to Jim Gonyo and Marty Mannix for their grammar and so-called support of U.S.-based labor.
The awards they handed out clearly have the label "Made in China" on them, and Larry Bulman was presented an award that thanked "her" for his dedication to organized labor. Shame on them.
Abuse
I hope single mothers will decide against letting boyfriends move in and otherwise trusting them with their precious children. I hope they will get "real" child care instead. My niece left her baby with a guy while she ran to get diapers, and a week later he was arrested for photos he took of himself "posing" with her tiny daughter. Don't trust so easy and don't risk it!
Sand Road
Between the town of Schuyler Falls and town of Plattsburgh, they cannot come up with a solution to get town water on Sand Road in Morrisonville. Is it because they're not going to make any money? Well, thanks, at least you have water at your house. Seven weeks since I had some.
Rentals
Thanks for comments re rentals in city of Plattsburgh.
I grew up there, and Oak Street and South Catherine offers a lot of history to the area, and people who own rental properties should take care of them. We had rental property and took pride in it. If money is an issue, ask for help or sell it. Saranac Lake is the same — takes away from a neighborhood too.
Renting
I would like to make a comment on renting. It is impossible to find a place to rent nowadays when they want so much money up front. I feel it is unfair to expect so much money all up front. For lower-class people who are trying to make a living and support their families on minimum wage, it is impossible to come up with $2,000 up front. How can we pay the rent where we are and get a place to move to and feed our families at the same time?
