Canoe
To the person seen loading a canoe on to a pickup near Long Lake after it fell off a trailer: It belongs to a children's camp, and we really need it. Please call the police, and they will give you our phone number so that we may arrange to retrieve it. Many thanks for the rescue.
Loudspeaker
For those people that get woken up early by the fishing derby loudspeaker. Suggest you go to bed an hour earlier the night before and be darn glad of what the fishing derby brings to the city and county.
Motorcycles
Regarding the Jeer for loud music in cars, I'll turn my music down when the Harleys, crotchrockets and other loud exhausts stop drowning out car music or my television at home. I find motorcyclists to be some of the rudest drivers on the road.

AFSCME Local 788 has received the opinion and award of Arbitrator Kenneth J. Toomey denying the union's grievance of the city's Financial Lockbox, by which residents' water, sewer and trash payments can be routed to a Glens Falls National Bank subcontractor in Hicksville, Long Island, union President Denise Nephew writes.
