Gas

Gas prices are at an all-time high; I, for one, am tired of shelling out more and more of my hard-earned money to the oil company. It is time we as consumers fight back. What can we do to fight the oil companies? Dust off those bicycles hid in your barn, basement or garage, have them serviced, then ride and save.

Pot

Why has marijuana not been legalized in New York state? Just think of the revenue that could be generated. New York wants to get rid of a deficit; let us buy legally and we will solve your problems. It certainly isn't any more harmful than alcohol. How many deaths last year were from marijuana, and how many from alcohol? Alcohol wins hands down. Let's rally and start supporting the legal use of pot.

Death

A bad man is dead, and I don't want to contribute to making him an immortal by mentioning his name again. 10,000 Americans and untold numbers of Afghans and Iraqis have died on the way to killing him, so "justice" seems an odd word choice to describe his death.

Identities

To all of you people who complain that I ask for your ID. I can't just cash a check out to just anybody. How would you feel if your check got stolen and the bank decided not to ID the person who was trying to cash it? You know banks only ID people just to make sure that the person cashing the check is the person who is on the check. I don't care if you have been coming to the bank for 20 years. It's for your safety.

Returns

Attention all customers; if you do not have a receipt, you cannot return your item. If your purchase was made more than 90 days ago, you still can't return it. If the item you have got damaged because you dropped it or left it out in the rain and no longer works, you still can't return it. If you rip a hole in the sweater you bought because you bought it too small and didn't try it on, you can't return it.

Pakistan

The United States has given $2.5 billion to Pakistan for aid, and bin Laden lived within a short distance from the capital of Pakistan, and Pakistan didn't know he was there. Our own people in the United States are asked to take cuts to live a normal life.

Stage

I just finished reading about the damage done to the stage in Rouses Point. Cheers to the gentleman who spoke out to the village mayor and board about the damage that was done. Cameras down on the grounds and no one arrested. I, like many others, look forward to another summer of performances.

Coverage

"Adopted" does not mean damaged in any way. The recent murder is a tragedy, but being adopted just means you came to the family in another way. The TV does not say "natural son" of ... Why sensationalize adopted and put stigma on all of those kids who were chosen, loved and wanted, just as this kid was?

Lessons

"If you can't afford something, don't buy it," and "Money not spent is money saved." Those are lessons my mother taught me, along with others, like "Priorities first." Thanks to my mom, I am a lot more successful than I thought I would be. My friends even wonder how I made it. Because she taught me these things, I can afford things and I am debt free (besides the monthly bills), but I don't have any loans or credit-card debt. Thank you, Mom.
