Schools
Perhaps Saranac Central School could open Dannemora or Cadyville back up for free instead of an addition to Saranac Elementary. And I thought the taxes were supposed to go down with the school closings.

Adopting
Pet rescue agencies — I can fully understand your need to properly vet prospective adoptive families; however, invasive home visits, personal feelings of upcoming dread to the animal and your often uppity attitudes will only keep these animals locked in their cages or in foster homes that much longer. Taking a calculated risk on a loving family that has approached you would seem the best route. Come down from your crystal tower and work with prospective adoptive families. How difficult do you want to make this process?

Bonuses
Taxpayers bailing out the banks on Wall Street so that they, in turn, can pay themselves over $150 billion in bonuses. Maybe foreigners are right: Americans are stupid. As Walt Kelly was first quoted as saying: "We have met the enemy, and he is us."

Shut-in
Do you know someone who is a shut-in? A person can be a shut-in for different reasons. It may be due to aging and failing health or a handicap. It is very important for a shut-in to get visitors and help. Many family members choose to disregard the shut-in in their lives. They are too busy or too tired or just plain too selfish to lend a helping hand or a piece of their heart. Please don't be one of those people. Your shut-in needs you. No excuses; just do what is right!

Females
A generation ago, the young male drivers were known for speeding, tire squealing and a high accident rate. These days the tide has turned and the young females are out of control. High speeds, cell phones and this desire to tailgate constantly. Use the two-second rule by counting to 1,001, 1,002 when you pass a road marker. This is the minimal safety distance and will also cause less aggravation for the driver in front of you. You can also consider leaving for your trip five minutes earlier as to not have to push other drivers.

ROOST
Cheers and Jeers got it wrong. ROOST stands for Ripping Off Our Seasonal Tourists. Hey, it's Lake Placid!
