The next time you vote, please take a minute to imagine that you are the parent of a border agent who was killed by illegal guns made available by our government. Restore constitutional values to our government.
Calendar
A review of the school calendar revealed 179 scheduled days with 11 scholastically empty half days and four if-needed snow days. Factor in those days preceding major holidays and the first introduction to the school year, can anyone say the taxpayers and children get their money’s worth?
Immigrants
People are not aliens or Immigrants. They are here trying to help there families back home or have a family here.They are hard workers and very reliable and helpful to there employers. You would do the same if you were in their shoes. If we are all for legal immigrants, let’s try to help those who are worthy.
Jobs
Is growth in this corridor dependent upon state and federal grants? Are garage sales and recycled bottles and cans considered commerce? Where are those blue- and white-collar jobs necessary to promote serious growth? Youth will flee leaving Plattsburgh and surrounding communities with cashiers manning the registers at retail counters.
Fairness
Restoring fairness to the tax code by making real-estate investors follow the present tax laws would help. Auditors claim they underreported or misreported capital gains of $5 billion federally and $385 million in New York taxes. Large corporations have seen taxes cut for years, which have not led to jobs.
Beach
I feel it’s a serious mistake to allow alcohol consumption on the Plattsburgh City Beach. People get raucous enough while frolicking in public outdoor areas without the added contribution of alcohol to their less-than-considerate attitude. Not a good thing for the children.
Bar
I am so amazed that the City of Plattsburgh can’t bring in anything to promote more entertainment for the local people, but they can sure put a bar at the City Beach. Don’t you think there are enough DWIs now? Wait for a Drowning While Intoxicated.
Traffic
When will people learn how to drive through a traffic circle? Today, I was well into the circle on U.S. Avenue when a woman came charging into the circle from the Air Base. I almost broadsided her. The car in the circle has the right of way.
Rescue
Thank you to all of the firefighters who rescued a dog from the top of Lyon Mountain, regardless of the senseless comments of a few.
Greens
