Kindness
I was once proud to say I lived in a small town in upstate New York. But now I'm disappointed to see that so many people seem to thrive on gossip and spreading hatred toward others. What kind of example are we setting for our children? I want a better world for my children and grandchildren. Let's break the cycle and show kindness and understanding for others. Remember it all starts at home, in our small towns. Peace on earth. Isn't that what we all want?

Safety
No taxes, no prisons. Well then no prisons, no safety! Do you want the safe environment or not? It's the COs that go in to unsafe environment everyday to keep us NY'ers safe! Taxes pay salaries & benefits. Would you rather pay taxes or have an unsafe environment to live in and have more crime in this area? Not me. It's as simple as that! Come on, all CO bashers, why don't you become a CO and find out what it's like in the prison environment. Blame the governor for all the problems New York has, not the prison system!

Incumbents
The saying used to be, "It is tough to beat an incumbent." Let's change that and make it so that the new adage is, "It's tough to stay an incumbent!" This November, let's do it! Vote!

Papers
Changes to our weekly newspapers are understandable, i.e., sold to outside concerns, increased advertising, more generic content, etc. However, I am insulted when the weekly town articles are hijacked by people who see it as their personal blog. If they want a blog, let them pay for it. Don't exploit a remnant of our small-town heritage and sully it with self-amusing rants and fantasies on national/global issues or show off your vocabulary and pompous wittiness by altering words to create some kind of oblique-speak.

Honesty
About a month ago, I purchased a couple of money orders from Walmart, but when I got home I realized I had lost them, but today, 2-19-10, when I checked my mail, there they were. Someone had found them and mailed them back to me. I just wanted to say thank you and God bless you whoever you are. It was such a relief to have them back. Its nice to know there are still some honest people out there

Schools
Sorry, Sister, but my tax dollars should not be used to fund Catholic or private schools. The Catholic Church is filthy rich. Maybe the Vatican should stop hoarding their riches. If someone wants to sent their children to Catholic school, they should be responsible for the entire cost. Maybe if the state was not supporting the private schools our property taxes might be slightly lower.

Samaritan
Mr. Rioux did the right thing to help the accident victims. It appears he is not an emergency medical professional, and he didn't need to be chastised for trying to do the right thing to help them. I think his point is, being in the position he is in now, there has to be a way of assuring him the people he helped do not carry blood-borne pathogens and still follow the laws. If I was one of the victims, I would go out of my way to assure him he is safe, it's the least they can do.

Tiger
I was shocked to hear that Tiger Woods is human and not Superman. He actually puts his pants on one leg at a time just like me. People are pathetic to put any human being on a pedestal because he is good at playing a game. I truly hope for the sake of his family he can over come his demons and go back to some resemblance of his former life but when are people going to stop being so stupid and making people who are good at playing a game god-like status.

Bias
Since the P-R is against term limits they obviously think the status quo works and makes me think the politicians paid them quite well to write that opinion. Of course there are challenges and problems with any major change and that's what our system needs, major change. Career politicians, special interest groups and pork barrel spending have to go. I'm sure the founding fathers never intended for our country to be run into the ground the way it has. Once again the P-R shows its ugly bias so well.
