Insurance

On Dec. 20, my husband had an appointment with a podiatrist. We drove more than 50 miles only to be told that our insurance was not accepted. We offered to pay out of pocket, but still we were refused. When I made the appointment two months before and when the office called to remind us of the appointment, the receptionist did not ask what the insurance was. I told the receptionist that my husband was a diabetic and had a sore on both feet. We then went to the Plattsburgh Medical Care, and his feet were checked. The Medical Care said they would find a referral for our insurance, which they did and called us. Thanks to the Plattsburgh Medical Care.

Prices

Many say the higher gas prices in Plattsburgh are because we have a good Canadian market. The prices are inflated for these travelers. But the majority of gas customers are North Country people — neighbors. Trying to make a buck on the Canadians is actually ripping the locals off.

Shelter

Thank you to the Mooers Animal Shelter and dog control officer for housing the animals that he finds in town in a safe place for a number of days. It is much more convenient for an owner who has lost a pet to go there and get their animal. In the Town of Ellenburg, an animal goes directly to the Malone Animal Shelter. The drive out there and the fee to get your animal back is costly and unnecessary.

Bain

Why is Obama's re-election team using Mitt Romney's association with Bain Capital as an issue? It was Bain Capital Obama used to save the auto industry. Sixty-eight dealers closed, more than 11,000 jobs lost.

Gray

A recent University of Florida study showed, Democratic presidents gray faster than Republican ones under stress. Maybe they should call it "Just For Honest Men."
