Mispronunciations
Cheers to Gordie Little for highlighting common mispronunciations. Please add "tour" (often mispronounced "tore" instead of "toor" — listen to the Gilligan's Island song for the correct pronunciation: "Monday" (mispronounced "Mundee" instead of "Munday;" "jewelry" (mispronounced "jewlery" instead of "jewelry"); "regardless" (people often say "irregardless" instead of "regardless;" and last, but not least, "Jeezum crow" instead of "¦ but wait, then this wouldn't be the North Country!
Rush
That loudmouth Rush Limbaugh must be fired for his treasonous, slanderous statements against President Obama today (01/13/10) regarding the United States' response to those poor souls in Haiti. People should be calling Premier Radio Network at (818) 377-5300 to demand he is taken off the air. If Imus could be fired for calling someone a "nappy-headed hoe," this piece of dirt should be fired and then shipped to Haiti to live in the squalor and despair these poor people are faced with.
God
Your "God" has preserved the very poor and destitute people of Haiti. Right. What will he/she have for the future of this planet. Or do your pilgrim beliefs still mean something? Do you really believe that there is a being controlling our destiny? Is holocaust, war and submission part of the human factor on our planet? Why not — earth is what most writings call this doomed wasted sphere? You look into the sky and call it heaven. Your misguided thoughts have forgot that heaven was when you were young, fell in love and lived a life full of accomplishments and friends.
Drivers
To the person who wrote about the CCPT drivers, don't say things about the supervisor or the drivers unless you are an employee there. How can you possibly know if a driver has received praise or discipline? How do you know if they are appreciated or not unless you work there? Many people think driving is easy. It's not. You wouldn't believe some of the people who ride the bus and what the drivers, as well as office staff, have to put up with. There are good days and bad days just like every job!
Physician
Interesting that we never see the attorney general filing criminal charges against a physician for medical malpractice and neglect. This does not excuse the two nurses in Elizabethtown, if that is true, but it makes one wonder where the justice is when it is the physician and not the nurse who makes an error that can cause complications to last a lifetime. According to the article, protecting the vulnerable and combating abuse are priorities. Why is it criminal abuse when a nurse does it and a "mistake" when a physician does something wrong and doesn't report it until it is found by mistake.
Trucks
With global warming being a concern, what were you people thinking when you bought those big trucks — surely not gas-guzzlers. How many miles to the gallon do they get?
