Speakout: Jan. 30, 2010

Stealing
In regard to Jan. 10, "Eating." I hope you're not saying it's OK to steal and that many people do steal. That is just wrong. Do unto others as you would have done to you. I would never steal from a person, store, business or anything else. I'm better than that, and I think most people are also. I'm a single disabled mother living on a very small fixed income.

Profanity
President Bush forgets the microphone is on and mutters to Cheney a profane expletive about a reporter in the crowd — did not see any Republicans calling for his resignation. For that matter, do not even recall that he apologized. Wonder if that is what he thought about anyone with less money and power than him.

Shoveling
So I have been watching the sidewalks on Durkee Street since the snowstorm more than a week ago. Doesn't it seem odd that the city passed an ordinance fining people for not shoveling their sidewalks, yet the sidewalk on the parking-lot side of Durkee Street still has not been shoveled? Apparently the laws do not apply when it is the mayor that is responsible for it! I think the city should make a donation to a local charity as an apology for not abiding by their own laws that they created so recently.

Reimbursed
How is it that people on Medicaid get reimbursed for their mileage to doctor's appointments? People who pay for their health insurance don't get reimbursed. What is wrong with our system? A lot! You wonder why people on Medicaid don't work. Would you, if you got everything handed to you on a silver platter? It's just outright disgusting the way the system rewards lazy bums! Get a job or two like the rest of us!

Democrats
Let us remember that race-baiting comes from the Democratic Party, not the Republicans. Remember, Abraham Lincoln was a Republican; Harry Reid is a Democrat.
