Hunting

I was offended by the Jan. 8 article on rabbit hunting in the Press-Republican. Killing animals for sport and not food is barbaric. I am also disgusted at signs where I work advertising the killing of rabbits at my place of work (a local correctional facility) for fun. I do not like this shoved in my face.

School

Why does Beekmantown School District still own the West Chazy branch? To me, selling it instead of heating it will be better for the taxpayers of that district. As one BCS taxpayer, I would like to know, and I bet others would like to know too. Can't wait for the answer.

Airlines

I was under the impression that when Colgan Air said they would be leaving the Plattsburgh Airport that, being such a great airport, several airlines would be interested in Plattsburgh? It looks to me that we can't offer enough money to any airline to come to Plattsburgh. Let's look at the facts, where can you go from Plattsburgh? South Carolina, Florida or South America. What about Las Vegas or L.A.? Oh wait, we can go to Boston and with 2 or 3 connections. We can get there at a very large cost. Burlington, here I come again.

Concert

Wow! What a great idea to have the Beekmantown alumni come back to perform at an alumni concert. Thank you, Mr. Nystoriak and Miss Ryan, for all of your hard work to make this concert a success. Your dedication, along with that of your former students, was very evident at this wonderful event. I hope that the powers that be at Beekmantown and all other area schools understand how important the music and art programs are to our schools. What amazing talent these wonderful programs have produced.

Animals

First I want to thank Clinton County Sheriff's Department Sgt. Nicholas Leon and Judy Belrose for the hard work to bring the horse and dogs to safety that were recently rescued. I pray for the day when animal owners (all types, farm and domesticated) must show proof they can care for a pet. And that a law will be passed requiring all pet owners to have pets spayed or neutered within six months unless special permission is granted to breed them.

Humor

To the writer wanting to replace Mother Goose and Grimm with Dilbert. Most of us enjoy the humor. Not everyone wears a pocket protector and lives in their mother's basement. Instead of complaining about the cartoon, go occupy something. Or at least clean your room.

License

A while ago, when I first moved to New York, I went to DMV to get a New York state license. The experience was not as unpleasant, as I had been warned, but the bad part was having them keeping my out-of-state license. I understood that I could not have two valid licenses, but New York only gave me a piece of paper, with no photo. I was unable to buy medicine for my sick child. Even though it was a valid ID, nobody would take it. New York needs to put pictures on the temp IDs. It was a terrible three weeks.

Neglect

What is wrong with people today? Don't they know that animals feel just like humans do. They can feel pain and know neglect. I don't understand how people could do that to any animal, but what blows my mind most of all is that to date no charges have been pressed. I think they should get the same treatment as these poor animals.

Airport

Who is paying for the Clinton County Airport? I seriously hope zero tax dollars are used in any way to maintain or keep it open.

Mass

I am a Catholic but the new version of the Mass, I do not like. To insert some fancy words into prayers that I have grown up with for 50 years is plain ridiculous. All this sing-songy of the Mass is out, too.

Endorsement

So all the wackos are now on the same sinking ship. Congrats to Newt. The Donald's endorsement should really help him get where he's going.
