Library program to feature 'Dreamgirls'
PLATTSBURGH — Plattsburgh Public Library will show the movie "Dreamgirls" at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 4.
Starring Jamie Foxx, Beyonce Knowles and Eddie Murphy, the PG-13 movie is directed by Bill Condon.
Based on the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, the film is about trio of black female soul singers that goes from just a group with talent to being a crossover hit on the pop charts in the early '60s. The friendship of the three girls from Chicago is put to the test when they are faced with the pressure of money, fame and adulation.
The movie, which runs 131 minutes, features the Grammy-winning song "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going."
All movies shown at the library are free and open to the general public. Popcorn and bottled water will be served. This program is made possible, in part, with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts, Decentralization Program, administered locally by the North Country Cultural Center for the Arts.
