Exhibit submission deadline set
SARANAC LAKE — The Adirondack Artists' Guild will host its 12th-annual juried art show from March 5 through April 13.
Interested artists may pick up a prospectus at the Artists' Guild gallery or download one from www.adirondackartistsguild.com.
One or two works may be submitted for an entry fee of $20; $5 for one additional work. A stamped, self-addressed envelope or an e-mail address must be included with the entry form.
Drop-off dates are Feb. 25 through 28 during regular gallery hours. Jurying will take place March 1, and notifications of acceptance will be mailed or e-mailed March 2.
This year's juror will be Hilary Oak, executive director of the St. Lawrence County Arts Council.
Cash awards will be given, and the first-prize winner will also have the opportunity to present a solo show at the gallery in November.
An opening reception will be held at the gallery, 52 Main St., from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 5, with awards announced at 6. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and noon to 3 Sunday.
Saxophonists
invited to festival
POTSDAM — SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music will host a Saxophone Chamber Music Festival Saturday, Feb. 20, in the Sara M. Snell Theater.
The event, with performances and master classes throughout the day, is free and open to the public. Although it features mostly collegiate ensemble performances, high-school saxophonists are strongly encouraged to attend, a press release said.
The event will conclude with a feature concert by guest artists at 7:30 p.m. and a jam session at Maxfields at 10 p.m.

Kent Collection returns; Dehn exhibit opens
PLATTSBURGH — The newly renovated Rockwell Kent Gallery has reopened at Plattsburgh State, available for viewing from noon to 4 p.m. daily.
The space had been closed while portions of the Kent Collection toured at the New York State Museum and the Brandywine River Museum.
As well, "Adolph Dehn: Works on Paper" opened last Friday in the Burke Gallery of the Myers Fine Arts Building on the college campus. That exhibit will run from noon to 4 p.m. daily Feb. 5 through March 28.
And, from Feb. 26 through March 28 in the Myers Lobby Gallery, will be Plattsburgh State's Bachelor of Arts Senior Exhibition.
The space is open all day every day.

Kunstler play available online
SARATOGA SPRINGS — Author and social commentator James Howard Kunstler is using live theater, podcasting and a self-published e-book to distribute his new three act-play, titled "Big Slide."
The story centers on a large family seeking refuge in the Adirondack Mountains as the country is collapsing into economic and political turmoil.
A free audio MP3 recording of the staged reading is available through the author's weekly podcast, "The KunstlerCast."
