Learn to decorate with natural materials
PLATTSBURGH — Anne Lenox Barlow of Cornell Cooperative Extension in Clinton County will teach a hands-on workshop on brightening up homes with natural materials such as evergreens, boxwood and grapevine from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1.

Cost, for materials, is $20 per person or $30 for two participants taking part together. All participants will go home with an evergreen door swag made during the class, which will be at the extension office at 6064 State Route 22, Suite #5, Plattsburgh.

While geared towards adults, mature children can participate if accompanied by an adult. Call 561-7450 to register. Space is limited.

Quilt display ongoing
PLATTSBURGH — A winter quilt exhibit is on display in the Textile Gallery, second floor, at Plattsburgh Public Library. Admission is free.

Sponsored by the Friends of the Library, the show runs through Jan. 16, 2010.

Open house set at Rehoboth Farm
PERU — See firsthand how winter greens are produced in winter at an open house hosted by Cornell Cooperative Extension and Rehoboth Homestead Farm from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6.

Crafts Fair to feature 100-plus booths
SARANAC LAKE —North Country Community College will host its 24th Holiday Arts and Crafts Fair from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, in the Sparks Athletic Complex Alumni Gymnasium.

Many local and regional vendors have reserved space at the show, and holiday shoppers will have their choice of thousands of handcrafted arts and crafts items at more than 100 booths, a press release said. Items for sale include quilts, stained glass, candles, leather items, floral arrangements, jewelry and knitted sweaters. The selection will also include sewn fleece, wooden clocks, bowls and furniture, in addition to wreaths, paintings, photographs and more.

Admission is $2, with children under 12 admitted free when accompanied by an adult. The Women's College Scholarship Club will run the snack bar, and ample parking is available. Clowns will make free balloon animals for the kids and do face painting.
