Jazz workshop set for Saturday
KEENE VALLEY — A free jazz workshop by Eli Yamin is slated from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Keene Valley Congregational Church, 1791 Route 73.
Yamin is director of the Middle School Jazz Academy at Lincoln Center. Musicians and vocalists from grade five up are invited to attend the workshop. Participants will tap their creativity and reach new levels of performance.

Regional artist submissions sought
PLATTSBURGH — The North Country Cultural Center for the Arts is seeking artists to submit work for a Regional Juried Exhibition in September.
Entries may be in the form of painting, drawing, photography, jewelry, sculpture, fiber, ceramics, glass, printmaking, mixed media, woodwork and more. Deadlines for entries is Monday, Sept. 10.
Judging will take place Saturday, Sept. 15. The cost for NCCCA members is $25 for one entry or $30 for two entries. Non-members pay $30 for one entry or $35 for two. The opening reception will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28. The exhibit runs through Saturday, Oct. 27.
“Prizes will be awarded and given in the form of cash for the first and second place winners,” Janine Scherline, NCCCA executive director, said in a news release. “The ‘Best in Show’ artist will be given the opportunity to hold a solo or group exhibition at the Arts Center within two years. In addition, that artist’s work will be showcased in the NCCCA’s Annual Appeal.”

Dance Camp starts Monday
LAKE PLACID — The Lake Placid School of Ballet will introduce girls and boys to dance through a weeklong camp from 9:30 to 11:45 a.m. Aug. 20 to 24.
Children between the ages of 6 and 9 will learn the basics of ballet, jazz and character from experienced instructors. Dance Camp — held at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts, 17 Algonquin Drive — is also an introduction to the Lake Placid School of Ballet, which offers ballet, jazz and tap during the school year for children, teens and adults.

Vendor spots available at show
KEENE VALLEY — Space for artists, crafters and antique dealers is still available for the 20th-annual High Peaks Arts and Antiques Show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. the weekend of Aug. 25 and 26 at Marcy Field.
