Newcomers welcome at
Senior Center

PLATTSBURGH — The Clinton County Senior Center offers numerous activities and welcomes new participants.

The band Curly Rose will play at 11 a.m. Thursday at the center, which is located in the former Seton Catholic Central School at 5139 North Catherine St.

Scrabble games gear up every Monday from 9 a.m. to noon.

Every other Tuesday, a current-events group meets at 1 p.m. Next session is March 16.

Thursday, March 11, the Senior Citizens Council will host two informational sessions on hearing loss, with free hearing screenings provided by the Plattsburgh State Hearing Center. Session will be from 10 a.m. to noon and 12:30 to 3 p.m. The screening will take about 10 minutes, with a licensed audiologist there to discuss results and make appropriate referrals if necessary.

St. Patrick's
dinner planned

MOOERS — The Mooers Good Fellowship Club will meet at noon Wednesday, March 10, for its St. Patrick's Day dinner at St. Ann's Church Hall in Mooers Forks.

The meal will be corned beef and cabbage.

Deadline nears
for Burlington trip

PLATTSBURGH — The Town of Plattsburgh Recreation Department is sponsoring a senior trip to Burlington's Flynn Theatre for a performance by six-member Irish band Dervish at 7:30 p.m. March 17.

The bus will leave the Sears parking lot on Smithfield Boulevard at 3:30 p.m. and return after the show. Cost is $30 per person, which includes the ticket for the concert. Participants will have time to shop and have dinner on their own in downtown Burlington before the show.

Reservations will be taken for Town of Plattsburgh residents only through March 10,when payment is due. If seats are available after that, non-resident registrations will be taken to fill the bus. For more information or to make a reservation, call the Recreation Department at 562-6860 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays.

Port Henry
library to host computer classes

PORT HENRY — The Sherman Free Library offers a series of computer classes for folks over age 50.

Eileen Clar will teach computer basics from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday, March 24, covering everything from starting the computer to using the keyboard and mouse.

She will teach "Health Sleuth" from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday, March 31, showing participants how to find creditable health information on the Internet.

From 9 a.m. to noon Friday, April 16, and Friday, April 30, Jackie Viestenz will teach computer basics.

Clar's classes are limited to four people, while Viestenz will accept no more than five.
