Also, the public is invited to donated blood at the Clinton County Sheriff's Office, 25 McCarthy Drive, Plattsburgh from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16; and Jeffords Steel in Plattsburgh from noon to 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25.

SARANAC LAKE — Facing yet another round of funding cuts, Adirondack Medical Center is encouraging residents of the Tri-Lakes region to voice their concerns to state lawmakers.

Under the governor's proposal, AMC would see a total budget loss of $551,671 in the 2010 fiscal year. In its budget for 2010, AMC projected a $200,000 operating margin — or excess revenue — to reinvest in programs and services for the following year.

"The governor's proposal would eliminate any hope of AMC improving upon or developing new programs and services for the residents of the Tri-Lakes region beyond 2010," the release said.

For more information and to contact state representatives directly, go to: www.helpyourhospital.org or www.helpyournursinghome.org. Enter your zip code then click on the "Write Your Legislator" button.

March 3, AMC representatives will be among health-care providers protesting the cuts in Albany and meeting with state officials.

Exercise is topic of diabetes lecture
PLATTSBURGH — The CVPH Diabetes Support Group welcomes individuals and a family member affected by diabetes to participate in a free educational lecture at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, in the third-floor meeting room of the Miner Medical Arts Building, 214 Cornelia St., on the campus of CVPH Medical Center.

Kymberlie Sweenor, a registered clinical exercise physiologist from the PARC Wellness Center, will discuss the many benefits of exercise for those living with diabetes.

The support group regularly meets on the fourth Tuesday each month.

Lecture participants will receive a free week's pass to the facilities of the Wellness Center, 295 New York St., Plattsburgh.

The event will offer easy exercise tips, exhibits on health issues and samples of heart-healthy foods (with recipes to take home). Health-care professionals will talk about heart care, and participants will have the opportunity to sign up as potential donors on the national bone marrow registry.
