Lunchtime lectures offer garden help
PLATTSBURGH — To help both novice and experienced vegetable gardeners, Cornell Cooperative Extension in Clinton County is offering a one-hour hands-on educational lecture series every other Tuesday at the Plattsburgh Community Garden located in the City of Plattsburgh's Melissa Penfield Park.

The next class will be July 7 with the last one Sept. 1. Sessions start at noon and end at 1 p.m. to give people the opportunity to come during their lunch hour, a press release said. No pre-registration is necessary.

In the event of rain, the classes will be held at the pavilion next to the garden.

A variety of topics will be covered over the summer including soil health, tomatoes, growing greens, mulching, composting, common diseases, problem-solving, cover crops and much more. A complete listing of dates and topics can be found at ecgardening.cce.cornell.edu.

There is a suggested donation of $5 per class. All donations will benefit the Plattsburgh Community Garden and Cornell Cooperative Extension.

To learn more, contact Anne Lenox Barlow at 561-7450 or by e-mailing alb326@cornell.edu.
