Legion hosting Palm Sunday breakfast

LYON MOUNTAIN — American Legion Post 1623 is hosting an all-you-can-eat buffet breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon Palm Sunday, March 24, at its 3958 Route 374 location.

The menu includes eggs, bacon, sausage, home fries, pancakes, french toast and a beverage. The cost is $7 for adults, $5 for children, and free for those under 5 years.

Story-time program resumes April 11

SARANAC LAKE — The preschool story-time program at the Saranac Lake Free Library will not be held on Thursdays, March 28 and April 4, during the school vacation.

The program will resume at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 11, in the Children’s Room of the library, 109 Main St.

Otter Birthday Party at Wild Center

TUPPER LAKE — The Wild Center is hosting its annual Otter Birthday Party from 10 a.m. till 5 p.m. Sunday, March 24, at its 45 Museum Drive location.

The popular event celebrates Squirt, Squeaker, Louie and Remy’s spring birthdays. Face-painting and otter-themed crafts will be offered, as well as up-close encounters and photographs with mascot, Ollie the Otter. There will also be birthday cake for all. The event is free for Wild Center members or available with paid admission. As always, hikes on free snowshoes, animal encounters, feature films and food are also available.

Low-cost catspay/neuter services available

PERU — Elmore SPCA and Adirondack Mobile Veterinary Services will be offering low-cost spay/neuter services for pet and feral cats.

Every month, on the second and fourth Tuesdays, the public can bring their cats to be spayed or neutered to Elmore SPCA, 556 Telegraph Road, Peru. For $40, the cat will be fixed, get a rabies vaccine and a distemper shot.

The first clinic is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 26. Services are by appointment only; call 314-1813 to schedule.

Starting Tuesday, April 23, feral cat organizations will be able to start scheduling their cats to be fixed.

Full Moon Snowshoe Hike in Newcomb March 30

NEWCOMB — The Adirondack Interpretive Center at 5922 Route 28N is hosting a family-friendly hiking event at 6 p.m. Saturday, March 30.

Attendees of the “Full Moon Snowshoe Hike, Chili Chow Down, Easter Egg Hunt” will meet at the historic Huntington Lodge for $5 chili followed by an informal hike at 7 p.m. A campfire, hot chocolate and Easter egg hunt are at 8 p.m. Directions to the lodge are available upon registration. Snowshoes are available.

Elks Club hosting breakfast, egg hunt

PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh Elks Lodge, 56 Cumberland Ave., is hosting a breakfast and Easter egg hunt on Sunday, March 24.

“Breakfast at the Elks with the Easter Bunny” — the final volunteer all-you-can-eat breakfast for the season — starts at 9 a.m. The cost is $8 for adults, $5 for children, and those under 5 are free; add $2 for an omelet.

The Easter egg hunt will follow at 11:30 a.m. in the dining room. Find the golden egg for a special prize inside. Baskets will be provided.

Support group for nursing moms meets April 1

PLATTSBURGH — La Leche League, a breast-feeding information and support group, meets at 7 p.m. Monday, April 1, at Family Connections on U.S. Oval.

The group, which is for all women, meets the first Monday of every month. Babies are also welcome.

An additional support group will meet at 10 a.m. Friday, April 19, at Family Connections on U.S. Oval. This group will meet the third Friday of every month.
