Lecture series focuses on whole foods

SARANAC LAKE — Adirondack Health's latest Community Lectures Series, scheduled for Tuesday, will focus on whole foods.

"Whole Foods: What they are and why you'll want to eat them," will presented by Registered Dietitian Sabine Weber, local nutrition expert and member of the Adirondack Health staff.

Discussion will focus on the nutritional, weight management and health values of whole foods. Weber will also talk about simple ways to boost intake and incorporate more whole foods into daily life making everyday meals healthier.

The is free presentation will be held 6:30 p.m. in the Redfield Board Room at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake. Knitting series offered at TAUNY

CANTON — Beginning this week, knitting expert Jody Horwitz of Canton will offer a series of skill-building classes on Tuesday evenings at The TAUNY Center, 53 Main St., Canton.

Each class will be held from 6:30 to 8:30, offering participants a chance to learn and refine specific knitting skills. Horwitz will provide hands-on instruction, and hot beverages will be provided. For a list of the session topics, visit www.TAUNY.org.

The cost per class is $16 for TAUNY members and $20 for non-members. Participants for the beginning class may bring their own materials or purchase a starter kit for $12. Space is limited and pre-registration is required by calling 386-4289.
