Fort Ti plans July Fourth events

TICONDEROGA — Fort Ticonderoga is offering a number of Independence Day events from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 4.

Highlights include: 9:30 a.m., Raising the Colors; 10:15 a.m., 1:15 p.m. and 3:45 p.m., guided tour of the fort; 11:15 a.m. and 2 p.m., musket demonstration; 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., King’s Garden march; noon and 3 p.m., King’s Garden tour; 12:30 p.m., Fife and Drum concert; 12:45 and 3 p.m., Seven Months Emergency Service; and 4:30 p.m., Striking the Colors service.

A living-history event is also included in the general admission. Prices are $17.50 for adults, $14 for seniors, $8 for ages 5 to 12 and free for children 4 and under. Residents of Ticonderoga are also free with an Ambassador Pass.

ArtQuest program starts July 9

PLATTSBURGH — The North Country Cultural Center for the Arts is offering summer art classes for children from July 9 through Aug. 17.

The six-week “C.S.I. ArtQuest” program for children 5 through 12 years old will encourage kids to create, discover and explore an array of projects and experiences. It is divided by week into the following categories: July 9-13, Mixed Media Madness; July 16-20, Discovering Arts through the Ages; July 23-27, Exploring Art and Culture; July 30-Aug. 3, Connecting with Clay; Aug. 6-10, Recycling and Upcycling Art; and Aug. 13-17, Music, Movement and More.

Two sessions will be offered each day: session one is from 9 a.m. to noon, and session two is from 1 to 4 p.m. Families can sign their children up per week or for the entire six-week experience.

The cost per session is $95 for non-members and $85 for members. There is a special rate of $150 a week for non-members and $140 a week for members.
