Workshops to teach basic knitting
CANTON — A three-session after-school knitting program begins Monday, Feb. 1, at Traditional Arts in Upstate New York (TAUNY).
Knitters from the Linsie Woolsie Yarn Shop in Canton will teach a basic knitting stitch to beginning knitters age 10 and older, who will make a knitted headband.
Multiple instructors at the Arts Center will help the young knitter master technique, solve problems and do the finishing work.
Sessions take place from 3:30 to 5 p.m. the first three Mondays of February. Cost for the first session, which also covers materials and needles, is $20 for Traditional Arts members; $25 for non-members. Each additional session is $5 for members; $10 non-members.
Monday is not too late to preregister for the class; knitters need not attend the first session to participate in the others. To sign up, call 386-4289 or e-mail info@tauny.org. Participants may pick up their knitting kits at Linsie Woolsie, 4 East Main St., Canton, in advance of the class or get them at class.
The Arts Center is located at 53 Main St., Canton.
