NORTH ELBA — Charges brought against a Bethesda man have been reduced, according to the Essex County District Attorney’s Office.
Akshay Kapur was 26 when he was charged with second-degree burglary, a felony, for allegedly ransacking a room at the Econo Lodge in Lake Placid on July 22, 2011, when he was allegedly given the wrong room key.
Kapur’s charges were reduced to criminal trespassing, a misdemeanor.
He was ordered to pay a $195 fine and $205 in state surcharges, said the D.A.’s office. Kapur was also sentenced to one year of conditional discharge during which any further criminal activity could result in re-sentencing, according to the D.A.’s office.
The case was closed Jan. 11, 2012.
