MALONE — Three people arrested during a drug-trafficking sweep on June 19 have pleaded not guilty in Franklin County Court.
Law-enforcement officials said prescription drugs purchased through Department of Social Services benefit cards made up 60 percent of the arrests during a sweep that netted almost 30 people.
Others were allegedly dealing heroin and cocaine.
Appearing before County Court Judge Robert G. Main Jr. were:
Melissa A. Dupee, 27, of Fort Covington, who was indicted by a grand jury on two counts criminal sale of a controlled substance, Dilaudid; two counts third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, Dilaudid; fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance; and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, stemming from incidents Feb. 17 and April 3.
She pleaded not guilty and was released without bail. A conference is set for the case on July 12.
Shelly M. Nason, 51, of Malone, who was indicted by a grand jury on two counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance; and two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, oxycodone, stemming from incidents March 5 and 6.
She pleaded not guilty and was taken to County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 insurance bond.
Leigh A. Perry, 28, of North Bangor, who was indicted by a grand jury on fourth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, Subutex; third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, fentanyl; and two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, fentanyl.
Perry pleaded not guilty and was taken to County Jail for lack of $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 insurance bond.
Conferences on all three cases are set for July 12.
