Police Log: Sept. 8, 2010 — Personal-injury accident

WESTVILLE — A Malone woman said she nearly hit a deer and ended up with traffic tickets after an ATV accident sent her and a passenger to the hospital.

Crystal A. Fleury, 24, was driving a 2008 Can Am ATV south on the Fay Road in the Town of Westville Monday when she spotted a deer in the road. She took evasive action to avoid the deer and lost control of the vehicle.

The ATV overturned, ejecting Fleury and rear passenger Gloria Dustin.

The vehicle exited the west shoulder, striking two mailboxes.

Fleury and Dustin complained of hip pain and were transported to Alice Hyde Medical Center. Fleury was treated and released, and Dustin was treated and transferred to Fletcher Allen Health Care, where as of Tuesday she was listed in fair condition.

Malone-based State Police issued Fleury tickets for an unregistered ATV, uninsured ATV and operating on a highway.
